Potter County STD Rate High and Still Increasing

It seems that people are becoming sexually active at younger and younger ages.  When kids become sexually active they are usually irresponsible.  The STD rate in Potter county is extremely high and is continuing to rise.

No matter how dangerous unsafe sex is, people continue to do it.  And the worst part about it is that kids are now being diagnosed with STDs.

Clinics around Amarillo are reporting that out of every 100 patients tested, 12-13 percent test positive with an STD, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea being the most spread around.  They also report that males as young as 14 have been treated for STDs.

The problem is unprotected sex.  Sex education needs to start at home.  So if you are a parent talk to your kids about the dangers of unprotected sex.  Amarillo should be know for something besides our STD rate.  Educate!
