Stop, look twice, then go.  That is the focus of the month of May, to bring awareness to the fact that cars share the road with bicycles and motorcycles.  As part of  the 'awareness,' A Ride of Silence has been scheduled for tonight.

Old Tascosa Cycling and Share the Road are teaming up to bring the 8th annual Ride of Silence.  Many bicyclists and motorcycle riders are killed each year do to careless drivers.  The Ride of Silence is to honor bicyclists killed or injured by motorists.  Riders are often not seen until it is too late.

The event will happen tonight, Wednesday, May 16th and will start at 6:30 p.m. The route will take riders from the Potter County Courthouse, Southeast Sixth Avenue and Taylor Street.  All riders that want to participate are told to wear a helmet and be prepared to ride at a speed of 10 mph.

Once the ride is over, all participants are encouraged to return to the courthouse for a social event.  The whole purpose is to bring awareness to these riders.

So the next time you hit the road, remember you share the road with bicycles and motorcycles.
