Rob Lowe faced a scary turn of events when his vacation to France was interrupted by a natural disaster.

The 50-year-old actor and his family were vacationing in a rented house in Grasse, France when a severe storm entered the area and created a torrential flood.

The ‘Parks and Recreation’ star posted a photo of the flood waters rushing by the vacation home. He wrote, “This is right outside the house. Was twice as high at the worst, just before sunrise.”

His son John Owen Lowe also posted a photo of the frightening scene, and revealed that he and his family had to be rescued by firemen once the water hit a dangerously high level. He even shared (and later deleted) a video of himself on the second story of the house watching as the entire first floor was submerged under water.

According to the Toronto Sun, the south of France apparently received three months worth of rain in a span of just a few hours on Wednesday morning. The first responders that rescued the Lowes deserve huge pats on the back. What a relief that everyone is safe!
