If you’ve been following the Rogue One rumors and production for the past two years, you probably don’t understand why Disney keeps releasing new television spots. Do people still need a new commercial to help make up their minds? It turns out the answer is yes: I sat down for some football with my in-laws on Thanksgiving Day and heard shocked exclamations about a new Star Wars movie after a Rogue One commercial played during a break. Based on the time I spent explaining to the group where Rogue One fits in the Star Wars universe, I’m pretty sure I should bill Disney for marketing services rendered.

The newest Rogue One spot might have some of the same themes of rebellion and persistence in mind as the others, but forget all that noise, because it’s time for the K-2SO show. It wouldn’t be a Star Wars movie if we didn’t have a new and slightly fussy droid to fall in love with, and K-2SO is certainly no exception: new footage in this Rogue One spot makes it clear that the reprogrammed Imperial enforcer droid is as loyal to the Rebellion as his programming allows him to be, very reluctantly volunteering put his robotic life on the line. We also get to see K-2SO’s cat-like reflexes in action, as well as his slightly sociopathic disregard for the value of anyone’s lives. C-3PO, it looks like you’ve finally met your match.
