Whoa. Comedian Russell Brand is always looking for a laugh, but he may have gone below the belt by dissing his 14-month marriage to Katy Perry as a "drag."

That's quite an odd thing for him to say now, since the funnyman always spoke warmly of his ex-wife, even on 'The Howard Stern Show,' where being mercilessly honest is par for the course. He praised Perry up the wazoo.

But he seems to have changed his tune. Brand reportedly said that their "marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I’d even got off the elephant. It was a drag, man." The elephant line is a reference to the fact that they were married in India.

He finished by snarkily saying, "Let me tell you a thing about marriage. Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. It’s a sacred, 14-month agreement. Begins on an elephant — ends in a newspaper."

That's really harsh, especially since the quote became public just as news that Perry and her post-Brand boyfriend John Mayer had split for the second time.
