Should First Time Expectant Moms Get a Mother’s Day Gift? [POLL]
In case you have forgotten, Mother's day is this Sunday! That means you need to hurry up and get you lovely mom a gift, card or something of that nature. But should you buy a first time pregnant woman a Mother's day gift?
As I sit here, I am torn. Should a first time expectant mom get a Mother's day gift? I don't know. I was pregnant during Mother's day in 2008 and I did not expect a gift. I did get one, but wasn't expecting one.
On one hand, I think that you become a mom at conception. Although your baby is in your tummy, you are the one that carries him, nourishes him, and basically does all the work.
On the other hand, I think that you need to experience the tasks of actually being a mother to appreciate the day. The diaper changes, runny noses, staying up all night with a sick kid, packing lunches, running them to soccer practice and so on.
However, according to a survey conducted by EMA New Moms specialty group, 60% of first-time pregnant moms expect to receive a gift on Mother’s Day. That is more than half of the pregnant women out there! They didn't want anything extravagant, though. A card, flowers, something just to show they are appreciated.
First time expectant dads, had no clue. About 60% had no idea that their soon to be mom was expecting anything. So if you have a pregnant woman at home, don't hurt their feelings and get them a little something for Mother's day!
