I tell my son that I am a super hero. Well, I sorta am. In the comics, Peter Parker is known as Spider-Man. He does amazing things and he is really cool. But to his family and friends, he is just Pete. Well, to a lot of folks I am D.B. Nyce. The loud guy from New Jersey who talks on the radio. But to my son, I am Dad. I can not fly or lift heavy objects. But I am his hero.

I have been doing the single Dad thing for over a year now. It is hard being a radio personality and full-time parent. You do not truly understand what it's like being a single parent until you have done it yourself. I don't have a regular 9 to 5 job. I have to balance long days at work with making time for my son. The toughest part of my day is turning off "D.B. Nyce Mode" and go back to being Daddy. However, it is easy at the same time because I always look forward to spending time with my son. He won't be little forever so I cherish every moment I have.

I started to do fun little things with him. Things both he and I enjoy. Our new favorite thing is Nerf Wars. He got a few Nerf guns for his birthday and Christmas last year. So whenever we go outside or find a big area with lots of hiding spots, we play tag with the nerf guns.

He likes making silly videos, riding his bike and playing at the playground. I find myself saying, "What do you want to do today?" He knows Daddy will make sure we do something fun together. Every day with my little guy is a gift. Watching him grow is a privilege. Enjoy as much time as you can with your kids. They won't stay little forever. I do because I don't want to miss a thing in my son's life.

Are you a single parent? What do you do with your kids that's fun? Tell me in the comment section below.
