Stephen King’s New Novel Mentions Amarillo. A Lot!

One of the small things in life that please, is seeing my city mentioned in books, or appear on television and the movies, for good reasons. I'm reading Stephen King's latest novel, The Outsider, and noticed Amarillo mentioned several times.

It might be time to invite the horror master to Amarillo and make him an honorary Sod Poodle. Or have him throw out the first pitch. About the only scarier than a Stephen King yarn, is the list of proposed names for our baseball team.

I feel certain that Mr. King would enjoy The Golden Light and all things Route 66. Maybe he'd like to try his luck, steak-wise, at the Big Texan? How could he not enjoy Palo Duro Canyon and all the wildlife within?

Stephen King has professed his admiration for Bruce Springsteen many times, and I'm sure he would love spraying his famous name at the Cadillac Ranch.

If he's up for a challenge, we could blindfold him and dare him to drive through Yellow City without hitting a traffic cone.

We could use a nice pick-me-up. Let's invite Stephen King to town and thank him for his nice treatment of our hometown. Ask him to bring his guitar and that beautiful Maine weather.

We'll promise never to ask him "Where do you get your ideas from?"
