Storage Building At NE 5th & Buchanan Collapses After Hit By BMW

I was downtown at about 12:30 this afternoon, driving down Buchanan, and saw this in my view up ahead after the underpass between downtown and the Blvd.  They had Buchanan blocked off, so I went around the back side and looked down the side street and saw this view above.  A silver BMW had wrecked into a storage building at NE 5th & Buchanan, taking the entire front of the building down.

I had no idea what I was walking into at the time, I got out and started walking down the street, saw the building had damage, took a few pictures...

As I got to Buchanan to see what was happening, I saw news camera crews and on-lookers and several people gathered around the car that had struck the building.  As I snapped my final picture, I saw what I was taking a picture of, my heart dropped.  I couldn't keep taking pictures, I had to put my phone away.  I can't even bring myself to put it on here.  There were men holding up a white sheet surrounding the vehicle...

I talked to some of the people that were next to me, asked what happened, nothing official but they seemed to have an idea of what happened.  From what I gathered, 2 men were in the vehicle when it slammed into the building just after 11:30am.  One was taken away in an ambulance, and the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

It's been reported that Buchanan is blocked off at this time, and officials are asking residents to stay away from the building.
