The financial tech firm Smart Assets is out with their list of the worst American driving states.  Texas made the list. Read on to find out where it made the list.

1. Florida

2. Mississippi

3. Oklahoma

4. New Jersey

5. Delaware

6. Alabama

7. Vermont

8. Tennessee

9. Texas

10. Nevada

A lot of factors were considered when making the list.  However, there's one driving faux pas that you may not realize.

A new study by the Governors Highway Safety Association reveals that a person, who has been awake for 18 hours, has the same driving ability as someone with a .05 blood alcohol level. A person, who has been awake for 21 hours, has the same driving ability as someone with a .08 blood alcohol level.

Sleepy drivers caused 72,000 crashes between 2009 and 2013.

Another bad driving habit is driving too fast for the conditions. You've all seen the guy in the big four-wheel drive truck going 50 miles per hour on the snow and ice.  But you can also drive too fast in the rain too.
