In 2018 the Vikings and Minneapolis will proudly show off their new stadium to the world. Meaning the NFL's tradition is rewarding teams with new a stadiums. The NFL owners announced Tuesday they awarded the Minnesota Vikings and their brand new stadium to host Super Bowl LII (52).

The city of Minneapolis will build a brand-new, $1 billion stadium.  This will be the second time for the city of Minneapolis, which hosted Super Bowl XXVI at the recently demolished Metrodome in '92. One reason the NFL is giving the thumbs up to Minnesota is because of the nearly $500 million in public money going towards the team's new facility.

The NFL likes to reward the cities that invest in new stadiums. The Vikings will play at the University of Minnesota while their state-of-the-art stadium is being built on the former site of the Metrodome. The stadium is set to open in 2016, which gives the city plenty of time to work out any kinks before Super Bowl 52 in 2018.
