With technology comes convenience, including renting movies through your remote control.  Mix that with a cute smart 4 year old and you may end up renting way more than you expect to.

No doubt about it, my son has had me wrapped around his finger since the day he was born.  I'll admit I find it very difficult to say no.  All he has to do is give me a big smile and flutter his eyelashes.  But sometimes he does things that drive me up the wall.

Like any other kid, my son loves cartoons.  He loves them so much that he often records his favorites to watch over and over.  He has known how to use the dvr for as long as I can remember.  I actually found that helpful.  If I'm busy he can go and find his shows himself.

It has never been a problem until recently.  I was going through my mail so that I could get my bills paid and I came across the cable bill.  Now I was expecting a few extra charges because I do allow him to rent a few movies a month, but what I found left me speechless.

He had rented two movies over and over and over for an entire month straight.  Yes, he would watch it until his time ran out and then rent the exact same thing again.  So for an entire month, he watched Bolt and Madagascar 3.  That is two movies for $3.99 each rented 15 times each.

My bill had an extra charge of $119.70.  I could not believe it.  So I did what I thought was best and called the cable company to see if there was a mistake.  I mean why would anyone rent the same movie 15 times in a row?  No mistake was made, the movies were rented off my tv.

I sat my son down and asked for an explanation.  His response:  "I don't know why I did it.  Sometimes my brain makes me do crazy things.  And I really like those movies."

In reality it is my fault.  Who lets their 4 year old rent whatever they want, right?  Let's just say I now monitor his TV watching closely and have bought him the movie Bolt.  Kids do the funniest things and sometimes it even costs you money, but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
