There’s More Red Light Cameras Coming To Amarillo

Well this is just fantastic news.  They're adding 4 more red light cameras to Amarillo.  So, that's 4 more chances to be caught running a red light.  Not that you should be anyways, I just don't agree with these cameras.  It's entrapment!  Well maybe not, but it sure feels like it!

Construction to get the cameras installed is underway.

Amarillo Globe News:

"Workers are moving a camera from the intersection of South Pierce Street and Southeast Third Avenue to the northbound approach at West Amarillo Boulevard and Tascosa Road.

They also will add cameras at the westbound approach at East Amarillo Boulevard and North Fillmore Street, westbound East Amarillo Boulevard at North Pierce Street, and southbound South Taylor Street at Southwest 10th Avenue."

They've shelled out close to 12,000 tickets with the 5 already at intersections.  This will probably double that number.

Interesting fact!  The Coulter & Elmhurst red light camera yields the most violations.  That camera alone has issued over 5,000 tickets!
