There were no injuries in this morning's accident involving a train and an SUV in the 1800 block of Folsom Road in Amarillo.  A 2007 Nissan X-Terra got caught on the railroad crossing, unable to clear the tracks as a train approached.  The driver got out of the vehicle in time before the train collided with the SUV.

"On Tuesday June 3rd at approximately 7:45am, officers were dispatched to an accident involving a motor vehicle and a train in the 1800 block of Folsom Road. Upon arrival, officers found the driver of a 2007 Nissan X-Terra was southbound on Folsom road going towards Amarillo Blvd East. The Railroad crossing as well as Folsom Road from the tracks to Amarillo Blvd East is closed due to repairs. The driver observed they were unable to continue southbound and attempted to turn around and got stuck on the railroad tracks. As the driver attempted to free themselves from the tracks, an EB BNSF train was approaching the intersection. The driver was unable to get the SUV off the tracks; however he was able to get clear of the impending collision. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the collision and there were no reported injuries to BNSF personnel. The driver of the SUV fled the scene before officers arrived. The vehicle was later impounded and removed from the scene. "
