U.S. Highway 287 between Childress, TX and Memphis, TX is closed down today due to a hazardous chemical spill that took place last night.  The highway will remain closed until the spill has been neutralized.

"Rail lines and U.S. Highway 287 between Childress and Memphis are closed Monday because of a hazardous materials spill, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

The lines and highway will be closed until environmental specialists neutralize the spill, DPS troopers said.

Emergency crews are rerouting traffic out of Childress to State Highway 256 via State Highway 83, the DPS said."

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported due to the spill.
