A shooting took place around 11:30pm last night in Amarillo that left one man injured and another dead. The deceased man is still unidentified and Amarillo Police are asking for help so they can notify his next of kin.

Amarillo Police report that officers were dispatched at 11:40pm to a shots fired call at a house located at 1618 S. Arthur.

****UPDATE***** The subject found deceased in the residence at 1618 S. Arthur was identified as Leonard Torres, HM, age 26. An autopsy is scheduled Friday morning in Lubbock

According to the caller, she and her boyfriend came home sometime after 11:30 p.m. and encountered unknown and armed suspects inside their house. Shots were fired and she and her boyfriend fled the residence. The caller told dispatchers her boyfriend was shot. Officers arrived and found the caller and her boyfriend outside in a vehicle. Officers searched the house for the armed intruders and found a subject deceased inside the residence from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper body. The deceased subject matched the caller’s description of one of the unknown armed suspects inside the house when they came home. Officers did not find anybody else in the house. The caller’s boyfriend was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy of the deceased subject and it is scheduled for Friday.
