It seems that everybody I talk to is really bummed out about Splash Amarillo not opening up this year.  But no worries, I have found several awesome water parks within driving distance of Amarillo!

The days are getting hotter and hotter and there is nothing better than taking the family to the water park.  Unfortunately, Amarillo no longer has one and Canyon's won't open until 2017.  But there are other options.  Pack a picnic lunch and load up the family and take a road trip!  Here are some cool water parks in our area.

A short drive to Pampa, Texas will lead you straight to  Pampa H2O!  This park is super family friendly and affordable.  There is a bucket drop, slides and more.  Ages 0-3 are free, 4-17 $4,  and 18 and up is $7.  Pampa H2O is planning on opening on May 25th, but that is just tentative for now.

A quick drive to Sunray, Texas will lead you to The Treasure Island Water Park!  This park offers a 7,000 square foot, zero-depth entry pool!  You will also find two 20 foot tall water slides, a USS Bobcat pirate ship, a killer whale slide and a bunch of soft play animals.  There is no word on when opening day will be.

Heading south on I-27 you'll run into Lubbock, not only home of Buddy Holly, but also Texas Water Rampage.  This family water park offers a lazy river, wave pool, kiddie pool, picnic areas, and a pirates cove.  They open on May 28th and it costs $17.99 per person and $9.99 after 4pm.

If you want to drive a little bit farther, Clinton Oklahoma is home of WaterZoo!  It is about 2-2 and half hours from Amarillo.  It is an indoor water park that has 300,000 gallons of water, 500 feet of water slides, retractable roof, and lots of sprays and splashing!

While we may not have a water park in Amarillo, we have lots of options.  So plan your day trip and go have fun!
