Military Vehicles, Horseshoes and some Advertising is happening in Amarillo this weekend. A military vehicle convoy on Route 66 to a state horseshoe pitching championship. There are going to be fun for all in the city this weekend.

  • Tomorrow The Military Vehicle Preservation Association Route 66 Convoy (more than 50 vehicles) are driving the entire length of Route 66(LA to Chicago).  They will arrive in Amarillo tomorrow Friday, September 29. As they pass along Historic Route 66 (SW 6th Ave) between 11 am and 12 noon(depending on traffic).

The participants and their vehicles then will have lunch at The Church at Quail Creek, with a visit to the residents at the Ussery-Roan State Veterans Home. Do you wanna follow the convoy?   • Now if you enjoy playing horseshoes like I do, well The Texas State Horseshoe Championships will have pitchers from around the state focusing on this classic game.   • Also The American Advertising Association Central Region Conference will be September 29-October 1 inside the new Embassy Suites Downtown Amarillo Hotel.
