What’s The Strange “Bates Motel” Sign Off I-40 About?

After taking a ride out to Bushland over the weekend I happened to get off at I-40 and Hope and noticed this strange sign on the side of the road.

It was so strange that I turned back around to take a picture of it and try to investigate the purpose of this sign that read "Bates Motel Each Room With A Shower And Taxidermy Ahead." Obviously this is a play off of the classic horror movie, "Psycho."

I googled it and nothing came up! Has anyone seen this sign before that sits off of I-40 & Hope Road? Was there really a Bates Motel in Amarillo, or did someone put the sign up as a joke? Is this a classic Stanley Marsh stunt?
