West Texas A&M University police are investigating a reported sexual assault after two female students flagged down an officer early Monday in a campus parking lot.  One of the female students told officers she thinks she was drugged and sexually assaulted while visiting Guenther Hall, an all male dormitory.

"WT Police Chief Shawn Burns said the alleged attacker was an acquaintance of the woman.

“It was not a party,” he said. “It was an individual event between those two individuals.”

A medical examination was conducted on the woman who reported the assault, Burns said.

Police obtained a warrant and searched the dorm room where the assault was alleged to have occurred, Burns said.

Officers seized electronic equipment, clothing, bed sheets and other items that might hold evidence to a crime, he said.

“Anything that we think might have been an instrument of the crime is seized".

The woman might have been drugged during the alleged attack according to officials.  However, a statement given says: “There is a possibility that there was an altered state involved … part of the evidence that has been sent off is chemical in nature".
