I am a first time mother and I still consider myself a new mom.  There is so much that I don't know and situations that freak me out.  So in my spare time, I like to look for videos that give advice or great recipes.  Yesterday, I was watching a video on YouTube that talked about using breastmilk for dinner recipes.

I'm sure there a tons of people out there who have tried breastmilk.  Curiosity usually wins.  Maybe you tasted it or your husband did,  but cooking with it is a whole other story.  The video I found was of a mom that was cooking macaroni and cheese for her kids when she realized she was out of milk.  So as a substitute, she used some breastmilk that she had pumped for her baby.

Of course, the kids ate it.  Anyone would eat it unknowingly.

As soon as I saw this video I automatically googled it and actually found recipes that use breastmilk.  I found everything from ice cream to cupcakes to chowder, all using breastmilk.

Now, if that is something you and your family want to do, that is your choice.  But all I keep thinking is what happens at the next pot luck dinner.  Sally just had a baby and she made green bean casserole-did she use breastmilk?  Or is that macaroni and cheese made with milk or breastmilk.  Not even the desserts are safe.

In all actuality, cow's milk is the cow's breastmilk, but it is cleaned and put through some sort of processing I'm sure.  It just sounds worse when you say 'I just pumped that milk for the macaroni.'

Is it just me that is grossed out by this?  Would you use breastmilk in dinner recipes?

Here is the CafeMom video. Watch it and tell me what you think.
