The Best, Worst and Weirdest Moments of the 2013 Golden Globes Awards Ceremony
So the Golden Globes turned 70 this year, and they're looking better than ever. And since the booze flows freely right there on the tables, it's one of the more laid-back awards shows of the season, so we knew we were in for a few surprises - and even more laughs - at this year's ceremony.
But there were a few grimace-worthy moments, too, not to mention some just plain boring ones. So with that in mind, here are the best, worst and weirdest moments of the night.
The Opening Monologue: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler had the crowd, audience at home, and social media world buzzing with their hilarious jokes that included sexual nightmares starring Quentin Tarantino and an influenza starring Meryl Streep.
Weirdest Celebrity Presenter: Catherine Zeta-Jones' awkward line of singing before presenting the film 'Les Miserables.' Pretty sure her singing peaked during her stint in 'Chicago.'
Best Recovery: Paul Rudd. The actor, who was presenting with Salma Hayek, ad-libbed and did his best to handle what appeared to be a broken teleprompter situation by offering a simple and cheerful "Hello!" to the audience.
Worst Sidekick: Salma Hayek stood next to Rudd like a wet mop.
Best Surprise Appearance: President Bill Clinton, who presented the film 'Lincoln.' No other words necessary.
Best Use of Sarcasm in an Acceptance Speech: Jennifer Lawrence's "I beat Meryl!" shriek of excitement for besting the veteran in the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy category.
Most Unsurprising Win: Anne Hathaway's win Best Supporting Actress for 'Les Miserables.' Even she looked like she was expecting to win. Zzzz.
Worst Spray Tan: Lea Michele. Girl was straight-up orange.
Best 'Ripping on My Costars' Moment: 'Les Miserables' actor Sacha Baron Cohen. "Russell Crowe had four months of singing lessons ... that was money well spent." Ouch.
Biggest LOL Moment: Fey and Poehler return to the stage with drinks after losing to Lean Dunham for Best Actress in a TV Series Comedy, during which Dunham paid them both a backhanded compliment by saying how much she loved them when she was in middle school -- thus drawing attention to how much older they are. "Congratulations, Lena," a bitter Fey said, hoisting the cocktail she said she wouldn't drink. "I'm so glad we got you through middle school!"
Best Taylor Swift Diss: "You know what Taylor Swift? Stay away from Michael J. Fox's son!" - Tina Fey
Best Middle Finger to the Academy Awards: Ben Affleck gets a lot of love while collecting his Best Director win for 'Argo.' The same award the Oscars didn't even nominate him for.
Most Yawn-Inducing: 'Les Miserables' won 'Best Musical/Comedy' - expect the movie to win everything, everywhere this awards season.
George Clooney-est Moment: This. Swoon.
Greatest Surprise: 'Argo' takes home Best Picture - Drama, beating out favorite 'Lincoln.'
Best Exit: "Goodnight! We're going home with Jodie Foster!" - Amy Poehler
And we're out ... and wiped out.
See you for the Oscars.
