Governor Abbott announced today that schools in Texas will remain closed through May 4 or until further notice.

Last night I got a call from the kids' school. The voicemail stated that Canyon ISD would be closed until further notice.

Along with that, all office staff will be working from home.

For the good news, meals will be continuing. CISD has been serving meals for students up to age 18. For my kids and wife, I know that's a great break from being cooped up in the house.

I have to give props to my wife. I don't think either of us ever thought part of her daily routine would be helping the kids study from home.

It was bit surreal listening to my wife frantically search for laptops and tablets for the kids to use. My phone is constantly getting notifications from the app the school uses for communication, which is a relief.

There's a lot of meetings and work going on to make sure the kids still get their studies done while we adjust to the "new normal."

You have to hand it to teachers. They're having to learn how to teach remotely while they're actually teaching remotely.

Crazy times we're living in.

Be sure to follow your school's social media pages and YouTube channels if they have one for updates.
