Could it be an early Christmas present or are we anticipating a huge spike?  Whatever it may be, gas prices in the area are continuing to drop.

I love it when I can fill up my gas tank and it doesn't cost me $40 to fill up my tank.  That's why I drive a small car, so I don't have to worry about gas breaking the bank.

AAA Texas released this week's gas prices and Amarillo is once again on top for having the lowest gas prices in Texas at $2.74 per gallon. Way to go Amarillo!   That makes me happy.

El Paso still stays on top with the highest gas prices in the state at $3.11.  Even at the highest in Texas it is still lower than the National average.

We asked our friends at AAA Texas, why the drop in prices at the pump.

“Prices at the pump have been falling as crude oil prices have been fluctuating due to concerns over the COVID-19 Omicron variant,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster. “On December 2, OPEC+ announced it would stick to its plan, for now, to raise production by 400,000 barrels per day in January, which has also helped keep a lid on oil prices.”

I personally would love to see our gas prices drop even lower, because that helps keep me within my budget. They only good thing about 2020 was the cheap gas prices, however, we couldn't go anywhere, so it really wasn't a win.

Here's a look at where Texas stands with gas prices this week and a week ago.  Check out gas prices in 2008.  They were insane.  At least we aren't paying those prices, and hopefully never will again.

MASSIVE: Incredible Photos of the Historic 6666 Ranch

The sprawling 6666 Ranch is one of Texas' crown jewels. Established in 1870, the legendary Samuel Burk Burnett built himself an empire of cattle and Quarter Horses.

You can imagine the shock that rippled across Texas when the historic ranch that is twice the size of Chicago was listed for sale.

And it was certainly double the shock when the news came about that Taylor Sheridan, the director of the smash hit show "Yellowstone" was the winning buyer.

There's much to the story of 6666 Ranch and so little time to tell it, but first: just look at the incredible photos of this sprawling piece of Texan paradise.
