The Haunting History of the Fort Worth Water Gardens
Every minute, 19,000 gallons of water course through the pump of the Fort Worth Water Gardens. They are beautiful and mysterious, and honestly, I had no idea the water gardens existed until I encountered a TikTok the other day that dives into some of its dark history.
Even though the fountain is quite beautiful, there is still something sinister about it. It might have to do with the fact that once, four people drowned in it in a single day.
In 2004, an 8-year-old girl slipped and fell into the fountain. As a result, she died, alongside her brother, her father, and another unrelated child who were doing their best to save her. The powerful pump that keeps the water circulating is strong and unfortunately, it pulled them under. One person said the pump was so strong it sucked the socks right off of their feet.
Take a look at this video about the Fort Worth Water Gardens:
Creepy, huh?
While it's probably pretty tempting, don't forget the rules when you visit the Fort Worth Water Gardens. Swimming and wading into the fountain are forbidden, for good reason. Even still, the city claims they have paid "thousands of dollars in claims to visitors injured in the falls."
What do you think about the fountain? Any cool stories to share with me? Maybe you're just ready for a little road trip to check it out! I know I am! Let's go, boy!
