Can You Get Handmade Bicycles In Texas? Heck Yeah, You can.
It's been a long time since I rode my Mongoose bicycle around town. I was king of the road thanks to the pegs it had on it. I could do all kinds of sick tricks. Now that I'm older, it would be nice to have something a little more...grownup.
Can you get handmade, custom bicycles in Texas? Not just yeah, but heck yeah, you can.
Texas Has A Lot Of Places That Build Custom Bicycles
It's a ridiculous, the number of shops. There's a ton.
It doesn't matter if you're looking for a mountain bike, something to ride around town, something you can race on...Texas has it all. Best part is, it's all custom made.
I read an interesting quote about custom bicycles. The quote compared them to suits. Sure you can get a decent one off the rack, but one made just for you gets noticed across the room. I never thought about the difference in buying a bicycle made to fit me specifically.
Yes, A Lot Of Them Exist In Places Like Austin or Dallas
For instance, there's Tomii Cycles in Austin. Daltex is, well, a product of Dallas as you might have deduced.
There's also places like True Fabrication in Austin. Don't forget about Crumpton.
Custom Bicycles Are A Very Involved Endeavour
The websites are impressive. The detailed descriptions about the process, the craft, and how these bikes all come together is mind blowing.
There are plenty of photo galleries that show the process of a bike frame being built, that fits specifically what the rider is going to need. I imagine it has to be a very comfortable ride.
Be aware though, a custom bicycle is going to set you back. I've seen prices range from $750 to over $3,000 and beyond.
