Amarillo Favorite Delays Second Location—What Happened?
As the year 2024 was winding down in Amarillo, there were still a lot of good things happening in our city. Those good things continued into 2025. We, of course, got our much-anticipated Buc-ee's location.

Then there are those that just never open. Back in early December, we found out about a restaurant in Amarillo that was getting a second location. Marisco's El Big Boy on 6th has seen a lot of success, so they were in the early stages of taking over an empty building on Paramount for a second location.
They branded the building by just painting a mural on the side of the building. The sign for El Bracero was still there but Marisco's marked their territory. They were hoping to have the new location open by February of this year at the latest.

I was talking with a friend who wondered about this location. It is still empty and it is now May. What are the plans? I reached out to Victor from Marisco's to see if there is an update.
There is, but it's not the answer that I was expecting. I figured that there was some holdup with inspections or something like that. Nope, not the answer that I got:
I don’t even think we’re gonna open it. The economy is not getting any better so I don’t have a clue right now of what to do yet.
Another victim of this horrible economy. Hopefully, things turn around and we can get this second location open. We will be watching.
