For the Win: All Roads Should Lead to Buc-ee’s in Amarillo

Buc-ee's is officially here in Amarillo. I can no longer say that I have never been to one. I walked in quickly before heading out of town for Christmas. I was on a mission. I needed to get my granddaughter an Amarillo Buc-ee's t-shirt. That was really all I needed and really is all I got.

I was in such a hurry I forgot to check out their iced tea selection. I wanted a drink for the road but missed getting one. So to say I have been to Buc-ee's, I have, but I did not spend the time or the money that I should have for my first trip. I know that I will be back and will check it out.

So as I was heading back to Amarillo on New Year's Day I thought about my trip to Buc-ee's. I decided to stop back on my way into town and fill up. I had seen many posts about the gas prices. I was just hoping my tank would stay full enough to get me back to Amarillo.

I then decided to keep an eye out on where I would see my first billboard sign for Buc-ee's on my way back from Dallas. They had a few in town so I knew I would see some.

The first one that I caught was in Childress. It was of course directing us to stop at Buc-ee's in Amarillo. That was definitely my plan if my gas tank cooperated.

The next sign I saw was in Memphis. Forgive me for the photo quality. It was dark and pretty far away but it was to let everyone know that Buc-ee's is candy heaven.

So I knew I was getting closer, would I make it? I kept watching my GPS and the miles to Buc-ee's. I also watched as the miles to empty kept going down. I am proud to say I made it with 9 miles to spare. I am not one to ever test my car like that and I know I won't do that again.

I did reward my car, though.

Since Plus Gasoline was cheaper than the regular I went ahead and selected that. I don't think my car has ever had anything but regular. I thought that was a great reward for not making me push it into the gas station.

So if you are driving from Dallas to Amarillo make sure you keep an eye out for the Buc-ee's billboards. There are not as many for them as there are for The Big Texan but it still is a great reminder that you are heading home.
