Hidden Gem in Amarillo Needs to Get More Love From the City

I say that but I like the fact that this is a hidden gem. Ok, maybe it is not hidden. I mean it's a park and it is in plain sight. I just don't think people take advantage of it as they should.

I am talking about Southeast Park. It's not a secret. It is not hidden. I just think that it doesn't get the love that it should. To me, that is great because I don't have to fight other people to get a great view of the ducks.

I can walk down the pier and be the only one on there. Yes, I said a pier. What other city park has one?

The sight of all the ducks you can see on a good day is absolutely amazing. You have to see it for yourself.

There are so many ducks to see. So many ducks to feed. I don't understand why Medi Park gets all the love. I know they have ducks too but Southeast doesn't have as many people. Well of course I am letting this secret out.

Of course, there is a playground. It is a park after all. There is actually more than one to enjoy. It's a great little park for the family.  Oh, and they actually have baby swings. Which I have noticed has been harder and harder to find around Amarillo. Yes, I am looking at you, Austin Park. How could you get rid of your baby swings?

So when you are making your afternoon plans and want to take the kids out to a park, don't forget about Southeast Park. Take them to one that they probably have never been to before. They have it all. The ducks, the water, the park, the pier. The walking trail. You can wear them out just the same.

After all, that is the main goal.
