This is the time of year when we start ordering a lot of stuff in Amarillo. We find the perfect Christmas gift for that hard-to-shop-for person on our list, and we order it. We then wait for it to be delivered.

Why Porch Theft Spikes During the Holidays

We make it through Black Friday and Cyber Monday and see so many deals that we just can't help ourselves. Guess what? The bad guys know that, too. They know that many homes in Amarillo will start seeing many deliveries.

How Thieves Target Holiday Packages

They drive around looking for packages left unattended. They may even follow closely behind delivery drivers to see where they are going. Then they snatch what you carefully picked out for your loved one. They follow right behind, and as soon as they drop it off, they make their move.

Options to Protect Your Deliveries

Some people luckily, work from home and can grab their deliveries right away. Some people have places for delivery drivers to hide their packages. Some people are at the mercy of wherever and however the delivery driver leaves it.

Best Option: Randall County Sheriff’s Office Pickup
