[REVIEW] Sometimes in Life you Just Have to Double Down

So we made the decision to try it. Him again. Me for the first time. Now I looked this morning to see what time they open up. I had no idea that 10:30 am was the magical time we were looking for. OK, that may seem too early for some people to eat this interesting chicken sandwich.

We, though, thought that was a perfect time I mean we have been up since 4 am or so. Who is not ready for lunch after that much time? So when he came and asked if I was ready at 10:45 am I said I sure was.

We could just walk over from work. Which is good since I needed to work on burning some calories. We looked and it was going to be a whopping 950 calories. Ouch. I was game anyway.

We were the only ones at KFC, of course, and we ordered. They asked if we wanted regular or spicy. The answer is always spicy. That is the correct one. We both got a combo because well, french fries.

Just know that the price of everything has gone up. Charlie used to order this sandwich a few times a week. Now a combo is $14.06. We got back to the station and the first thing that Charlie noticed is that the Double Down has definitely grown in size.

I had nothing to compare it to because it was my first time trying it. We looked it up and the sandwich that they served ten years ago was just 540 calories and now it's 950. So, yeah it grew a bit. A whopping 410 calories more.

Charlie was quite happy with the taste. It is what he remembered. The only difference is that this time he got spicy. He doesn't remember there being an option ten years ago.

I will admit that it was pretty good. I am not a big bread eater anyway. So it was nice not having that in the way. The spice was definitely good. I wonder if I would have liked it better with some pickles on it, or a tomato, maybe some lettuce? Or would any kind of veggie just ruin it? I mean pickles make everything better in my opinion.

Am I glad I tried it? Yes. Will I have it again? Maybe in another ten years. I mean 950 is an awful lot of calories for one sandwich at one meal. I may need to go and run around the block here a bit.

Now it's only going to be around for a limited time. They are saying six weeks and then it will be gone again. For how long? Who knows for sure. I am just hoping I burn off these calories by then.
