Over the weekend I decided to check out Synchronicity. It is a Simulated Universe. Something that Amarillo has never had. So of course I was intrigued. I didn't really know what to expect. I have seen a few photos but what was I walking into?

I brought my daughter and her friend. I wanted their opinions too. My daughter has been to Meow Wolf in Las Vegas. Synchronicity has been compared to that. Her friend had not. We also brought my granddaughter because I thought if it held her attention it would be a winner in our book.

So we went early on Saturday. We had to work around several things. First and foremost being a nap for my granddaughter. So we knew our time would be limited. We got there around noon. The parking lot was pretty full so I was impressed.

The entrance is in the back where you park. Just do better than I did. I didn't pay attention to the sign that you had to purchase your tickets online. Oops. So the nice guy up front took me and walked me through that process. It wasn't difficult at all.

Then we went inside and listened to a recording to tell us what to do. To warn us about doors that we can't open. To let us know about the puzzles we have to solve to get some of the things to open. OK, we were done and ready to walk in.

I will tell you it was really weird. We walked in with a group of girls but once we got in we never ran into them again. Where did they go? We were in each room by ourselves enjoying the displays. We ran into another couple briefly. Other than that it was just us. Which really made it seem eerie. I mean I know other people were there. We saw them walk in. But that was it.

There were a total of four of us in our group. We were all interested in the things we were seeing. Even my fifteen-month granddaughter. All the neat things for her to see. There were some great lights to see. The different rooms really grabbed her attention. There are a lot of classic things you just have to see, the old toys and even an old phone on the wall. She didn't know what to think.

My daughter had been to Meow Wolf so I wasn't sure what she would think. I watched her as she was walking through. Her friend, Joseph, had no idea what to expect at all. He didn't know a thing about this place. That is the way we wanted it. He enjoyed walking from room to room.

We were in for about forty minutes when nap time started calling for my granddaughter. I know we didn't see it all. There is no way to go through everything. That is how much you can go through. There are old newspapers from Amarillo and the area. There are old VHS tapes and a VCR, yes I put in a tape.

I think I was the only one who knew how to run a VCR. I saw an old news promo for a newscast from Channel 10. Boy Walt Howard looked like a baby.

My favorite room was the room that had a lot of old toys. You could climb up the top of this fort-type structure or go underneath and use the 3D glasses to have a trippy experience. So many places to explore. So many things to see.

All the books, all the games. We enjoyed using the blacklight to read messages on the wall. Yes, there were puzzles to solve. We didn't even get into that and still enjoyed our time. We knew with a baby that would be difficult. We discussed going back to get that experience too.

They encourage you to take photos. Oh, and I did. There are some rooms that because of the lighting you just can't get great photos. Well at least with my phone. So you have to go and see it for yourself.

This is totally something you don't expect to find in Amarillo. Something you just have to go in not expecting anything. Oh, and enjoy everything you see. Take it all in. You may need to make more than one trip. I know we will be going back.

Synchronicity is located at 1215 SW 10th Ave and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 pm through 9 pm.

Google Answers the Top 10 Questions About Amarillo

I love Google. It can literally answer ANYTHING you need it to answer. Whether it's right or wrong is a totally different question.

Recently, I found myself wondering about something and went to Google. And that's when I started noticing the "people also asked..." section and BOY...Some of them made perfect sense, some of them were interesting, and one of them was downright baffling...and it was a top 10 question which is even more absurd.

So let's see what we've got. Here's the top 10 questions as asked to Google about Amarillo.
