UPDATE: Sign Once Said Amarillo’s Chicken Place Will Open Up Soon

It has been months since a fire at an Amarillo Popeye's caused them to close down. They have been sitting pretty much empty since. The Popeye's on Paramount has left a hole in that part of Amarillo.

They first had a sign that said closed. Then the sign said to visit their location on Coulter. That is where it was and where it stayed. There have been questions about whether or not they were ever going to open back up.

Will Popeye's return to the Paramount/Olsen area? If you have taken a drive around Amarillo you may have noticed the change to their sign. It was subtle but it said all that it needed to say.

It had two simple words that spoke volumes. The sign outside Popeye's is still encouraging us to visit their location on Coulter. It's the two words before that message that is important. Those words?

Open Soon. I had to look twice. I had to make sure I was reading it correctly. Are they really going to be opening soon? I mean I haven't seen much being done in that location but I don't always drive that far up Paramount.

There was some hope though. The words open soon meant a lot to us. The only problem is that was a short-lived hope. Why is that? Because we have an update since this new update.

Now it seems things again have changed and the future is uncertain again.

UPDATE: Since the sign went up last weekend I have driven by again. Guess what? The "Open Soon" has now been taken down. What is going on? Were they about to open and then something else happened? We need answers. We reached out to the folks at Popeye's and have yet to get a response.
