There once was a time in Amarillo that there were several places to go when it was time to have a party. Every year for parties and birthday celebrations we could go to a few different places to get all of the stuff that we needed. If one place didn't have what we were looking for another one was bound to have it.

I remember going to Judy's Card Cottage as one of my stops. Then they started to go out of business. Which if you remember had to be the longest going out of business sale in all of Amarillo. That seemed to go on for years and years until they finally closed in the past couple of years.

I also would make a stop at Card and Party Factory. It was located at 34th and Bell in the same shopping center as Stein Mart. That Card and Party Factory ended up turning into Party City several years ago. If I am not mistaken there was another party supply place across the way in Puckett Plaza down from where the plasma center is now.

I remember going to both locations since they were close by, as well as planning my daughter's parties. I can't remember the name of the other party place. I do remember Card and Party Factory. Then after Party City moved in and once Pier One moved out near Soncy the party moved.

The Pier One had been near Target for a long time until they closed down a couple of years ago.

With that store closing it left room for Party City to move across the city and bring the party near the mall.

Unfortunately the news came out just before Christmas that the party was ending for Party City. This news brings the realization that this building is once again going to go empty. The party is over.

Another casualty of online shopping. One less place to fill those balloons up with helium before a kid's party. It's sad to see this party over.
