Behold! The most common passwords that are used in 2025 are... always disappointing, to be honest. Some of the smartest minds in history were born and raised in the U.S., so it's a little disheartening to see how easily our passwords are hacked. I mean, "123456"... really??

Anywho, take a look at some of the most common passwords in 2025 and tips to avoid being so predictable from passwordmanager.com.

Most Common Passwords in 2025 for Texas and Beyond

According to various sources brought together by Password Manager, they were able to highlight the 10 most common passwords so far in 2025:

  1. 123456
  2. 123456789
  3. qwerty
  4. password
  5. 12345
  6. 12345678
  7. 1111111
  8. 1234567
  9. 123123
  10. 1234567890

They warn that sequences of numbers are not always the safest option for keeping hackers out of your account. Unfortunately, it's very common for sites to require eight characters, and when this happens, passwords typically include the digits 12345678...

Other Common Passwords

Aside from numbers, common passwords that are used include locations, sports teams, and major events. Password Manager also mentions that "abu" and "rome" were seen in over 1 million passwords, so far, in 2025.

The key takeaway from this is that it's best to avoid locations in your passwords that are relevant to your general area. Otherwise, it's easier for potential hackers to access your accounts.

Also, you should always avoid birthdays and names in your online passwords. In fact, every year from 1975 to 2010 has appeared in at least 3 million passwords out of the 15 billion-person sample!

Always remember that birthdays, pet's names, children names, and names of parents are all generally public information, so it's best to avoid these as well.

How to Strengthen your Password

Password Manager urges you to tap into that beautiful brain of yours and create some unique passwords that are tougher for hackers to break.

It's also recommended that you change your password on a regular basis to stay ahead of incoming threats.

Another option for you is to utilize phrases rather than words in your passwords. For example, "quick-brown-fox" may prove to be a better password than something like "fox123."
