It's the season for campaigning and campaigning means visits from those running for office.

Gubernatorial candidate Beto O'Rourke will be in Amarillo tonight, Thursday, October 20, 2022.  The Get Out the Vote Rally will begin at 6 pm at the Four Points Sheraton at 1911 East I-40.

O'Rourke is on a tour hosting public rallies in every part of Texas, reminding everyone that early voting will begin on October 24th.

Here's not what to do when he's in town.

Don't bash those who support him, it is their right as American citizens, to support and vote for who they want.  For example, O'Rourke was in Amarillo in July and he stopped at Grandma Burritos on South Western and took a picture with the owner, and posted it on his campaign Facebook page.  The reaction the business owner received was just plain hateful for the most part.

Why haven't we seen other constituents in Amarillo?

Governor Greg Abbott was in Amarillo in April for a ribbon cutting at the Texas Tech Veterinary School.  Although he was probably campaigning privately he didn't hold a town hall.

Ronny Jackson has been in the area recently in Stratford and Canadian but not in Amarillo.  If he's that close why wouldn't he make time to stop and talk with the people in Amarillo?

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick was in Amarillo in February along with Kevin Sparks, but neither has returned.

It seems most of the Democratic candidates are steering clear of Amarillo except for Beto.

Don't get me wrong, I may have missed where other candidates stopped into town.  However, if they haven't why are they leaving out Amarillo in their campaign tour?  I get we are way up here in the Texas Panhandle, but hello, we are a pretty big city in Texas.

Don't forget early voting starts on Monday, October 24, 2022.  Please use your voice and vote.  Recent voter turnout locally has been abysmal.
