We have been on pins and needles since the announcement was made that Amarillo was getting a Buc-ee's.  The Amarillo City Council voted for Buc-ee's on February 8, 2022, and it passed in a 5-0 vote.

We are all ready for this cute little Beaver!

As soon as we started celebrating that Amarillo is getting a Buc-ee's a wrench was thrown into the works and a land disagreement surfaced as to who truly owned the land that Buc-ee's was intended to be built on.  This surfaced in May of 2022.

Fast Forward to January 2023,  the construction project has officially been registered!  The home of Buc-ee's Travel Center #66 will be at its original announced location of I-40 and Airport Blvd.

According to paperwork filed with state agencies, the start date will be March 2023 with a competition date of May 2024.

In a little over a year, Amarillo citizens and all the tourists traveling through will be able to have their Beaver nuggets.

The estimated cost of this project is a whopping $38 million dollars.   All I have to say is that's a ton of money, but I can only imagine, the money Amarillo will be pumping back into the business buying those Beaver Nuggets, using the cleanest bathrooms ever, and enjoying all the great BBQ, pastries, and jerky.

Oh and not to mention, at least 5 pieces of Buc-ee's clothing.

Not only will the citizens of Amarillo enjoy having a Buc-ee's, but imagine the increase in tourism we will have by those who don't want to drive 6+ hours to visit a Buc-ee's.
