When it comes to driving, no one with a driver's license should be breaking the law.  It is a driver's responsibility to obey the driving laws.  However, sometimes we all get a lead foot.

Amarillo is known for speed traps.

What is a speed trap?

<a href="https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/speed%20trap#:~:text=%3A%20a%20stretch%20of%20road%20policed,so%20as%20to%20catch%20speeders" target="_blank">According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary:</a>  a stretch of road policed by often concealed officers or devices (such as radar) so as to catch speeders

Washington between I-40 and I-27

This section of the road seems to always have a police officer hiding out.  It's highly possible that it is because Amarillo College and Wolflin Elementary are in the area.

This spot is always riddled with motorcycle police.  They used to always hide in the bushes off I-40.  It seems since COVID this particular speed trap isn't as popular as it once was, but every now and then, it's back.

Coming off the Mirror bridge one can pick up speed and if you're not careful there might just be a police officer waiting to pull you over.

Yep, all of Georgia, on any given day at any given time, there always seems to be a cop waiting to pull you over.

Bell and Fulton

This is the area around Amarillo High School. There is always a motorcycle cop in the area and they always seem to hide in the parking lot of the Crossings at Bell apartment complex.  They have also been known to hide out in the alley by the old Wells Fargo Building in the Spanish Crossroads Shopping center.

In that same area just a month ago, a motorcycle cop was hiding in a driveway on Fulton Street between Bell and Teckla.  IN. A. DRIVEWAY.

The moral of this story is don't speed.  But also, don't speed in these particular areas.
