Rihanna Breaks Down During ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ Deems Dubliners Best Crowd
"Love The Way You Lie" was more "Love The Way You Cry" (sorry) at Rihanna's latest stop on her Anti World Tour.
Last night (June 21), the "Work" singer began a performance of her 2010 hit with Eminem, but began breaking down almost immediately after the first verse. In the video above, posted to Twitter by @therih_up, RiRi wipes back tears and steps back from the microphone to regain composure at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
Then, in a second clip, Rihanna seems to collect herself for a moment, but the tears keep falling down.
According to RTE, the singer never quite explained what reduced her to such an emotional state, but did credit her Irish fans with being a truly magical crowd.
"I only have ever in my life heard an audience of people scream so loud that they sound like one voice and that only happens in Ireland, in Dublin," she said. "Thank you so much."
And fans, some of whom had never seen such an emotional side from the singer, shared their shock.
The Anti World Tour kicked off in Jacksonville in March and completed its North American leg in Atlanta in May. The "Work" singer began a second European leg in Amsterdam on June 17 and will wrap it up in Chelmsford, England on August 21.
