Russell Brand Doesn’t Want Katy Perry’s Money
After a little over a year of marriage, Katy Perry and Russell Brand called it quits. Because they didn't have a prenup, the divorce could get ugly, so will it?
According to Forbes between the months of May, 2010 and May, 2011 Katy made $44 million. The couple married in October, 2010, and in the state of California there is a community property rights law which means everything gets split 50/50.
Russell Brand does work so he has a small fortune, but Katy Perry made way more than he did. So exactly how much could Russell Brand get from the divorce? How about $20 Million.
Katy Perry can now thank her fairy godmother because sources say Brand doesn't want a penny of her money.
Russell's lawyer reportedly filed final divorce papers Tuesday. The divorce will not be made final until June 30, because there's a 6 month waiting period.
So why didn't Brand want his fair share? This is how one source put it, "This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person)." He doesn't want Katy's money. He's happy to walk away with the money he earned -- which is far less than what Katy raked in.
Wow! Hopefully everything will work out for the two of them.
