This year, in a continuing quest by the Academy to make the Oscars “cool” (if you ignore last year), comedian and 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane was chosen to don a tux and bow tie and host the star-studded event. To drum up press for the upcoming ceremony, MacFarlane proved that the event coordinators may have finally done something right.

Seth MacFarlane is seemingly Hollywood's busiest man. The word is out. Announcements have been made. Swim trunks have been exchanged. It’s too late to turn back now. Seth MacFarlane, creator of edgy inappropriateness like ‘Family Guy,’ ‘American Dad!’ and ‘The Cleveland Show,’ will be hosting the 85th Academy Awards in February.

Everything that is old makes rounds to become new again.  That is just the way our culture works.  Make way because the Flinstones are making their way back to TV.
