Terminator 5

As expected, the Fourth of July holiday weekend saw a lot of people heading to the theater. Unfortunately for the new releases, those people gravitated toward films that have already been in theaters for a few weeks. Once again, Jurassic World and Inside Out dominated the top 10, leaving newcomers like Terminator Genisys and Magic Mike XXL out in the cold.

The last Terminator Genisys trailer was so convoluted and confusing that ScreenCrush editor Mike Sampson and I spent an entire piece trying to figure out the plot of the film. (We were not successful, either.) At the very least, the new Genisys spot makes things a bit clearer. Right off the bat they also reveal one significant plot twist: John Connor (Jason Clarke) has been mechanized by Skynet and the evil computers of the future, and sent back in time to kill his mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke). Also, I just realized that Sarah and John Connor are played in this film by two actors with the same last name. Which, whoa. And, of course, there’s also Arnold Schwarzenegger back as the T-800, but this time he’s an older model who’s Sarah Connor’s protector. How and why remains to be seen, but hey, that’s why you’ve got to buy a ticket. To figure out how a robot can age and learn to a be a good guy who smiles awkwardly. (Very awkwardly.)

The 'Terminator Genisys' trailer has arrived and if you had hopes that this would turn around your bleak view of this franchise reboot, you're going to want to sit down and take a deep breath before you watch this thing.

After months of rumors and auditions from seemingly every up-and-coming actor in Hollywood, the rebooted 'Terminator 5,' officially titled 'Terminator: Genesis,' finally found its Kyle Reese. Australian actor Jai Courtney landed the role, which will see him appearing alongside franchise star Arnold Schwarzenegger and 'Game of Thrones' breakout Emilia Clarke.

Though the roles of both John and Sarah Connor have been cast (with Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke respectively, and of no relation), one of the biggest final puzzle pieces of the cast in the upcoming 'Terminator' reboot, 'Terminator: Genesis,' is who will play Kyle Reese, the man who traveled through time because he fell in love with a picture of Sarah Connor. 'Terminator 5' is scheduled to start production early next year, and soon we should start hearing about the casting besides that of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who's confirmed he'll be back. The latest rumor is that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be joining the cast.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has been presumed to return to his arguably most famous action movie franchise, 'Terminator,' since around the time he was leaving his California Governor's chair. Back then, he didn't have a script to even consider, but now that one is being developed, it seems that in fact he will be back for another installment.
