Acting can be a thankless business. With all the work, the rejection, the dealing with people you don’t get along with, the exhausting hours and press tours, it’s a wonder than any celeb can stick it out as long as some of our greatest stars have. Sometimes all that disappointment can push an actor to the brink — and then the right audition at the right time for a fantastic role can pull them back again. That’s exactly what happened to Gal Gadot, a.k.a. our new Wonder Woman: before she was cast, she almost quit acting altogether.

Ladies: Imagine going to see Wonder Woman in a movie theater filled with nothing but other women. Sounds fun, right? The Alamo Drafthouse certainly thinks so, which is why the geniuses behind our favorite theater chain organized a special women-only screening of the highly-anticipated superhero film at their downtown Austin location. Unfortunately (but predictably, which is just as unfortunate), a whole bunch of dudes are acting like big whiny weenies about it — hilariously oblivious to how their sexist attitudes further prove the need for this event.

It wouldn’t be a superhero movie without a glowy weapon of some sort. Wonder Woman has a sword and a shield, but her coolest weapon is her lasso of truth, which makes whomever is stuck in it unable to lie — and also acts as a pretty useful fighting tool on its own. World War I soldiers probably aren’t going to expect to get roped by a screaming Amazon during battle.

The final trailer for 'Wonder Woman' arrived this weekend, and it delivers on everything great about the character. Now we just hope the movie can live up to it.

The calendar may have four seasons, but Hollywood’s calendar only really has two at this point: summer and awards, and summer seems to last longer and longer ever year. Though the start of May has long been the unofficial kickoff of the S.M.S., 2017 has already seen a King Kong movie, a ghost in a shell, and the fate of Fast & Furious franchise. The change from April to May is something of a formality in 2017. Once the Oscars are over, the summer begins.

There’s just a few months left until Wonder Woman hits theaters, which means it’s time for Warner Bros. to get down to the business of promoting the crap out of this movie. When I saw Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in theaters, the crowd greeted her character during the climactic fight scene with wild cheers and applause, suggesting to me that audiences are ready to embrace the first standalone superhero movie. We’ve had the first two rounds of movie trailers; now it’s time to open the floodgates on teasers, TV spots, and production rumors. Let the games begin!

Even without her lasso and gauntlets and sword, Wonder Woman is still plenty powerful — but those things sure do help, and they look cool as hell. Like, really cool. Functionally speaking, Diana’s accessories have always been pretty awesome, but some of them (lookin’ at you, lasso) have occasionally come off as a bit corny. As we’ve seen in the trailers, Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins have ensured that there’s nothing silly about them, but when it comes to that sword, there’s no debate: It rules. And it’s the centerpiece in a newly released photo from the upcoming Wonder Woman solo film.

Marvel has been making some big changes to its standard comic book lore lately -- introducing both a new female Thor and a new black Captain America over the course of mere days -- and rival comic book giant DC does not want to be left behind. DC is progressive, too, you guys, and what better time to unveil their new take on a beloved superheroine than during Comic-Con week? It just makes sense!
