Traffic Congestion Expected For Southbound I-27

Amarillo Police have reported the occurrence of a major traffic accident in the 3000 block of the Canyon E-Way, or I-27, in the southbound lanes.  Amarillo motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route while emergency response vehicles and officers investigate the scene.

"APD is currently investigating a major traffic accident in the 3000 block of I-27 in the southbound lanes. II-27 does remain open but expect congestion near the 34^th street exit. The exit ramp on I-27 for 34^th Street/Tyler is closed and traffic on the southbound frontage road is being diverted to west bound on 30^th."

They estimate the closure to end around 2:15-2:30pm.
