Folks, it’s true: the 2008 Mamma Mia! movie that starred Meryl Streep and Stellan Skarsgard dancing in sequined bellbottoms is getting a sequel. Not only that, it already has a director and a release date. Not only THAT, according to the press release, some, if not all, of the original cast is expected to return for Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!
‘Wonder Woman’ Shows Off That Sparkly Truth Lasso in Action-Packed New Photos
It wouldn’t be a superhero movie without a glowy weapon of some sort. Wonder Woman has a sword and a shield, but her coolest weapon is her lasso of truth, which makes whomever is stuck in it unable to lie — and also acts as a pretty useful fighting tool on its own. World War I soldiers probably aren’t going to expect to get roped by a screaming Amazon during battle.
Benedict Cumberbatch’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ Gets Sly First Official Promo Art
Just in case you forgot, we’re getting another movie based on Dr. Seuss’s immortal holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas pretty soon. And also just in case you forgot, said title character is going to be voiced by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch. And said Grinch movie, now has its first official, extremely fuzzy promo art.
James Gunn Reveals Nathan Fillion’s Cut ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Role
One of the big Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rumors that never came to fruition was that Nathan Fillion, longtime James Gunn collaborator, would make a cameo. He did film a scene, which ended up deleted, but according to a new post by Gunn today, he was almost in another scene, though he didn’t have lines. Unfortunately, it had to be cut in favor of not slowing the movie down. As it turns out, Fillion was never on set, but appeared in a few fake movie posters that would have been on the side of a theater in the cut scene.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Is Being Held Hostage by Actual Online Pirates
Since online pirates tend to view “don’t steal stuff” as more of a guideline than an actual rule, it’s no surprise that eventually they’d start taking aim at Hollywood. And, hey, why not start big, with, say, Disney, the biggest studio in the business? And instead of pilfering something like Coco, how about going after, I dunno, maybe Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment in one of the most recognizable brands worldwide? Well, that’s exactly what a group of hackers apparently did.
M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Glass’ Will Have a ‘More Traditional’ (Read: Bigger) Budget
M. Night Shyamalan’s Split was a welcome surprise at the movie theater this year for two reasons: the first being (spoiler alert) it’s actually set in the same universe as Shyamalan’s fantastic superhero movie Unbreakable, and the second being that it was made on a crazy-low budget. $9 million became $275 million at the box office, paving the road to a sequel, titled Glass, which was announced by Universal last month. M. Night Shyamalan is back, baby!
James Gunn Has Already Started Writing the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Script
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hasn’t even officially hit theaters yet — we’ve still got a couple hours — but James Gunn is already hard at work drafting the screenplay of Vol. 3.
Amazon Prime Instant Video and TV Releases for May Announced
Amazon released their list of what to look forward to streaming on their instant video service next month, and May has some absolute winners. Not only did the site nab Oscar nominee Manchester by the Sea, they’ll also have available to stream last year’s Best Picture winner Moonlight, their new Original Series Dino Dana and I Love Dick, and a ton of classic James Bond movies.
Ryan Reynolds Weighs in on Josh Brolin’s Cable Casting With What We’ve All Been Thinking
There was a ton of speculation about who would be playing the much-hyped Cable in Deadpool 2, and as of today, we finally know it’s Josh Brolin. And while that’s fantastic news, it’s also a little confusing for those of us who have been following the whole Avengers: Infinity War saga: Josh Brolin is also playing Thanos in the upcoming Avengers movies.
Yep, There’s Going to Be Music in the Live-Action ‘Mulan’
Director Niki Caro was mysterious as the dark side of the moon about whether or not Disney’s new live-action Mulan movie was going to feature some of the classic songs from the original cartoon. At first, it seemed like there were no musical numbers planned for the movie, but, after some reflection, Caro has revealed that yes, not to worry, the new movie will have music.
