Riding bicycles or motorcycles are fun, but often dangerous.  That is why the Share The Road campaigns are so important.  And tomorrow, Share The Road Amarillo invites everyone out to participate in this year's Ride of Silence!

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the world wide event.  The ride was created to honor cyclists (bicycle or motor) who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways.  While cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, we often forget to look out for them.  And up against a car or truck, a motorcycle or bicycle doesn't stand a chance.

This year's ride will be on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30 pm.  Participants will ride on their motorcycle, bicycle, etc along a planned route in silence to honor all the lives lost by being hit by a car on the roads.  The ride will begin at Amarillo College's Washington Campus on 24th and Jackson.

There have been 327 rides confirmed nation wide, and many more globally.  If you have time, this is a great event to be a part of.  And if you can't make it out, remember to look twice and be cautious of bikes of all kinds.
