The Amarillo community steps up to help the family of Genaro Bedoy and tonight Popeyes at Bell & Arden has a great way to give!

This morning, family and friends will lay Genaro Bedoy to rest at St. Thomas Catholic Church, followed by burial at Memory Gardens.  Already, we've seen so many people out to support our hero, fallen soldier, Genaro Bedoy.  Citizens are out in masses, you can see them at McDonald Lake (45th & Coulter), and at St. Thomas.  We also have some unwelcome guests here, according to Fred Phelps daught

At the beginning of the week, Westboro Baptist Church issued a press release with 16 dead soldiers listed on it, and said they "will picket their funerals in their home towns".  KISS-FM broke the story, and Amarillo and the rest of the TX Panhandle stepped up, and made plans to see to it that the picketers would not make things worse Genaro Bedoy's family and friends.  It's bad enough th

So I've talked to several people about what is to be expected this Saturday, when Genaro Bedoy is laid to rest, and when Westboro Baptist Church is to protest at the funeral.  It's going to be real touch & go, so to speak, as to where the picketers will be located, so the best that can be done, is to put a plan in action, and just see what happens when the time and day comes.

So I've learned some news that many are finding disturbing.  Have you ever heard of Westboro Baptist Church?  Well, according to their press release, they are about to make a stop in Amarillo.  Why?  To protest the funeral of Genaro Bedoy, a River Road High graduate that died in active duty while serving in Afghanistan.  Are you seeing red?  Just wait, it gets worse.

From friends and family, to students of River Road ISD, the Amarillo community steps up to honor, remember and help the family of Genaro Bedoy, a HERO that died in active duty while serving in Afghanistan.  Fundraisers are forming, and we're asking that you find it in your heart to help!

It is a sad day today, as terrible news comes in this morning, leaving our hearts heavy and our minds wandering.  A father, son, brother, friend, soldier and hero dies in active duty in Afghanistan.  Genaro Bedoy, 20 years old, was taken from us while serving his country.  Friends and family morn the loss of a local hero in Amarillo today.
