The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 10pm tonight for pretty much the entire Texas Panhandle except the most northern portions. This does include Amarillo, so brace yourself for severe weather, and keep it KISS-FM for all your updates as we progress through this afternoon & evening!
Tornado season just started here in the midwest and there have already been massive storms and terrible tragedies. Storm watchers have predicted this season to be one of the worst in history.
An enormous tornado with a debris cloud two miles wide tore through the metropolitan area just south of Oklahoma City on Monday afternoon.
UPDATE 9:28 p.m. EST: At least 51 people were killed in the storm, including seven children from Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, according to KFOR in Oklahoma City. The news station reported that 75 student and staff were inside the school when the storm struck. Officials said Monday night that the search of the rubble remaining of the school had turned to a recovery mission.

March 23, 2013 At approximately 4:25pm in Amarillo, TX, houses began to shake and loud sounds began to rumble as a massive dust storm blew through the area. It looks like it's not easing up at the moment. The visibility while driving is limited and debris is flying everywhere, making for not quite ideal driving conditions. But they're saying this is just the beginning as the wind gusts stay strong keeping it nice and dusty all day, and leading to snow showers tonight!

February 26, 2013 If you look outside, we're seeing some sunshine and it's looking "better", but it's really not trust me! On the way in this morning I saw several cars stuck in the very slick ice we have all over the streets right now. Pretty much everything is canceled again today, so just stay in for a while folks! Give it till about 10am to see if this sun is going to melt off some of this snow before you go off and get cabin fever and try to take on all the ice! February 25, 2013 We had a true blizzard in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle, with winds reaching above 75mph! Things got so bad, police were pulling people over to urge them to return home, the National Guard was even called in to aide! The good news, the worst of it is over, the bad news, you could still be stuck in for another day.
February 25, 2013 As the Amarillo, Canyon and Texas Panhandle get pounded by this blizzard, cancellations, closings and delays are here. Pretty much every building with a door on it will be closed, and pretty much every road in the TX Panhandle is closed down! Your getting out and traveling in this weather is highly discouraged!
Batten down the hatches and bring the pets inside, because there is a very large and dangerous winter storm headed to the area. This is being reported by all the local news outlets as well as the National Weather Service.
February 20, 2013 The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning that's in effect starting at 12n today through 12n tomorrow for the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma Panhandle. The forthcoming snow storm could yield up to 8 inches of snow in some areas!
