Since the beginning of time, contraceptives have created controversy.  Today it is the morning after pill that is stirring the pot.  The emergency contraceptives are planning on taking the jump to being sold over the counter.

When discussing Plan B, most people are either firmly for it or firmly against it.  Well, it looks like those against it are about to get angry.  The American Academy of Pediatrics is recommending the pill be moved over the counter and available to teens.

Currently the emergency contraceptive is available at pharmacies, but you have to be 18 or older and you have to ask the pharmacist for it.  The AAP believes if it were available on the shelf like cough drops, more women would use it thus leading to less teen or unwanted pregnancies.

They also believe that women are often embarrassed to ask the pharmacist and this would eliminate feeling of being judged or ridiculed.

I am not strongly for or strongly against this movement, but do feel that it is going to cause a major debate.  The major issue is going to be the availability to teens.  Do you think that this is going to lead to more teen sex and other poor decisions?
