Russell Brand asked ex-wife Katy Perry to nix any footage of him from her upcoming documentary, ‘Part of Me’ … but Katy didn’t listen.

The Sun (via Sugarscape) says that Perry and her producers did consider Brand’s request to be eliminated from her movie, but decided to keep it in for the sake of the film’s flow. We can sort of understand that — he was a huge part of her life, even if only for a short time. But we can also see why he’d want his privacy and image respected.

A source told the tab, “When Katy first decided to make the movie in 2010, Russell agreed to be filmed on the condition he got to see the final edit. Being a fly-on-the-wall documentary, he knew full well that it was going to be warts and all — and wasn’t best comfortable with that. But Katy persuaded him to do it,” the source revealed. “Now they have broken up, she can keep whatever she wants in the film.”

It may not be as dramatic as it sounds, though. Each half of the former couple spoke highly of the other in recent interviews. Perry revealed to Ellen that she will show everything in a “tasteful way,” so we don’t think Brand will necessarily be vilified in the flick. Time will tell!
